The Fujian Zhangzhou China Merchants Xinyun Valley · Water Curtain Wall is developed and designed by Xiamen Guanyu Technology Co., Ltd. It is invested by China Merchants Group's subsidiary, China Merchants Zhangzhou Development Zone Co., Ltd., and operated by Fujian China Merchants Cloud Valley Development Co., Ltd. This industrial park is primarily focused on the pan-information technology industry within the Fujian region. The project is located in the Zhangzhou China Merchants Economic and Technological Development Zone on the southern shore of Xiamen Bay, with concepts of ecology, culture, and intelligence, positioning itself as a comprehensive industrial park characterized by low-density ecology, business parks, smart technology, and integration of industry and city. Xinyun Valley is situated in the southwest of the Zhangzhou Development Zone, at the intersection of several main roads, making transportation convenient. The planned Xiamen-Zhangzhou Intercity Rail R3 line will have a station near the Xinyun Valley project site, allowing quick access to Xiamen Island; a sea bus can reach the center of Xiamen City at Lujing Road in 15 minutes; and via the Xiamen-Zhangzhou Cross-Sea Bridge, it takes about 40 minutes by car to reach the center of Xiamen City. The overall planning area of the China Merchants Xinyun Valley project is approximately 420,000 square meters, with a land area of about 260,000 square meters and a total construction area of about 740,000 square meters, with plans for full completion by 2019. The park is planned to include high-rise offices, service buildings, co-working spaces, incubators, data centers, standalone/duplex corporate headquarters, as well as talent apartments, business hotels, and a commercial center to support both living and business needs.

It is an industrial park dominated by the pan-information technology industry in the Fujian region. The project is located in the Zhangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone on the southern shore of Xiamen Bay, with the concepts of ecology, culture, and intelligence, positioning itself as a "low-density ecological, business park, smart technology, and integrated industrial park for urban-rural integration."
 
In cases of small drops, generally with a drop of 3 to 5 meters, a single-stage waterfall is used.
 
A single-stage waterfall consists of five parts:
① Inlet connection section, which is the transition section between the upstream channel and the control weir. Common forms include twisted surfaces and eight-shaped walls.
② Control opening: This is the throat that controls the water level and flow of the upstream channel, also known as the control weir. It controls and adjusts the upstream water level and the flow passing through. Common cross-sectional forms of openings include rectangular and trapezoidal shapes, which can have or not have a bottom sill, and can have or not have gates installed. Rectangular openings can only make the water level at the opening close to the channel water level when the design flow is passed, while at other flows, the upstream channel will produce backwater or drop phenomena. Trapezoidal openings are more adaptable to changes in the relationship between upstream channel water levels and flow, and are widely used in practice. To reduce the length of the upstream water surface drop section, the bottom of the opening can also be raised to form a raised weir type opening. When the channel bottom width and flow are large, multiple openings can be arranged. Sometimes gates are set at the control opening to adjust the upstream channel water level.
③ Waterfall wall, which is the retaining wall at the drop point, used to withstand the pressure of the fill behind the wall. There are vertical and inclined types. Structurally, the waterfall wall should be connected to the control opening to form a whole.
④ Energy dissipation pool, located below the drop point, with two layout forms: diffusion and equal width. The cross-section can be rectangular, trapezoidal, or composite, used to eliminate the kinetic energy of water flow caused by the drop.
⑤ Outlet connection section: Its function is to adjust the outflow of water from the pool, smoothly directing the flow to the downstream channel.
 
A waterfall refers to the landscape formed by the drop of water from a higher place to a lower place using artificial structures. Waterfalls use regular shapes as carriers to shape the water landscape. Waterfalls are a method of continuous water drop scenery, so the site selection for waterfalls is usually on steep slopes, easily eroded, or places that require refinement.
 
There are various forms of waterfalls, including straight drop, sliding drop, and stacked drop. 1. Stacked drop waterfall - stacked water
 
When the water flows down along the step-like rice terraces, it presents a rhythmic cascading form. Stacked water is one of the methods to soften the height difference of the terrain, dividing the entire height difference into multiple segments, so that each segment's drop is not too large, giving a friendly and peaceful feeling. The step-like waterway is built according to the terrain and generally occupies a larger space, enhancing the depth of the water landscape and increasing guidance.
 
Using two large independent staggered step-like planes formed by granite, the waterfall flows into the pool through the transition of the two step-like planes. The unique design of the upper and lower step shapes fixes the flow of water, adopting a streamlined shape, giving an overall friendly feeling.
 
2. Straight drop waterfall - water curtain, water screen
 
Water falls from a straight water outlet, and during the drop, the water body hangs in the air, presenting a smooth, transparent curtain shape, hence it is called a water curtain or water screen. Generally, a water curtain often refers to a light and thin water body, like a gauze curtain effect of straight drop waterfalls, with a strong sense of transparency. Some waterfalls do not form thin sheets but are composed of dense bead-like water droplets. The water body of a water screen is relatively heavy, like a waterfall effect of straight drop waterfalls, with a slightly weaker sense of transparency. If you want to see both the water body and the landscape behind it, using a water curtain is better than using a water screen. The water curtain separates the inner and outer spaces but makes both vaguely visible, adding more interest.
 
Arranging such a water screen landscape indoors adds a touch of brilliance to the uniquely designed wall behind the water screen. The entire water landscape is enhanced in brightness and color by the lighting effect, with the water screen falling vertically from a height, creating a magnificent waterfall. The entire water landscape design becomes a highlight in the interior, very harmonious with the architectural style of the waterfall.
 
The waterfall design features a discontinuous horizontal plane, with water column designs crossing on both sides, creating a white spray of water as the water column pours into the pool, compensating for the monotony of the tall and straight wall behind.
 
3. Sliding drop waterfall - water curtain wall, wall flow
 
Water flows down along the surface of the wall, referred to as a water curtain wall or wall flow. This form of waterfall presents different effects due to the inclination and smoothness of the wall.
 
The biggest feature of a water curtain wall is that it uses water to soften the hard surface of the building, making the building more friendly, natural, and vibrant, creating a desire for closeness.
 
On uneven, fault-structured wall surfaces, water flows along the fault of the wall into the pool on the ground. The places where the waterfall passes, the water flow moistens the shapes depicted, with curved outlines, as if painting on the wall. The display of the wall is no longer monotonous and rough, presenting an overall natural and harmonious scene.
